"Green" Car Insurance Doesn't Have to Cost More

The notion of "green business" has spread over recent years, gaining popularity in a diverse range of industries. Indeed, it seems consumers everywhere are becoming more and more conscious of their environmental impact, as well as that of the companies they support with business. So, aside from wanting to better the environment, companies now have even more incentive to do their part in looking after the environment.

One such group that has joined the environmentally conscious movement is the car insurance industry - environmentally conscious cars are on the rise so it makes sense to have an insurance product that supports the countless consumers who drive them. It's now simple to find and secure a car insurance policy dedicated to covering "green" vehicles.

However, many motorists are worried that going green will compromise their car insurance deal. Specifically, policyholders fear that buying an electric or hybrid vehicle means they will lose access to a cheap car insurance policy, with many drivers under the impression that policies for green vehicles automatically cost more.

But insurers are reassuring current and potential policyholders that the cost of policies to protect green vehicles is roughly the same as the price of insurance cover for standard automobile models.

What's more, insurers have pointed out that drivers who opt for battery-powered and hybrid vehicle models are much more likely to save on other automobile expenses. Environmentally friendly car owners are even eligible for certain tax benefits.

Insurance specialist Steve Sweeney said in an interview:

Recent industry research has revealed that 39 percent of British drivers are looking to trade in their current vehicle for an electric or hybrid automobile, with intentions to go green.
