UK caravan insurance on the rise

According to new figures from the Caravan Club, the number of people heading out in a caravan for their holiday has increased substantially in recent years. Increased sales in UK caravan insurance should follow this statistic. The Caravan Club saw a staggering 57,000 people join its ranks in 2006, while research from the organisation has shown that 19 per cent of Brits who choose to holiday at home do so in a caravan. Therefore, the number of people taking out UK caravan insurance is also likely to increase as holidaymakers seek to protect themselves against mishaps specific to caravan trips.

A UK caravan insurance policy will cover holidaymakers financially for problems ranging from caravan breakdown, theft of or damage to caravan possessions.

One of the benefits of UK caravan insurance is that it is relatively straightforward, explains Mike Stammers, assistant manager at brokers Alan Blunden who provide UK caravan insurance cover. He commented that establishing a UK caravan insurance policy is fairly simple to do. He said: "It's quite easy to write … and its documents are quite simple".

A spokesperson for the Caravan Club expounded the benefits of taking a caravanning holiday: "It's great for families, providing very flexible holiday accommodation without the restrictions imposed by air travel and hotel timetables. If you need to warm a baby's bottle at 3am, you have everything to hand."

Speaking to the Western Mail, the spokesman added that it is not simply families who are enjoying caravanning and need to consider UK caravan insurance: "The club is increasingly appealing to young singles who have discovered that owning or part-owning a caravan or motor caravan is a great way to indulge their favourite hobbies, from mountain biking to surfing, and attending events from pop festivals to motor sports meetings."
