Reviewing personal finances through home insurance comparison websites can yield some pleasing, and financially rewarding results, Abbey claims. Recent research conducted by ICM on behalf of the bank found that 21 per cent of people in the UK could be losing out by not taking time to check out home insurance comparison services. Indeed a small but worrying proportion (four per cent) of homeowners admit to not having any home insurance cover at all, a risky position that could be easily rectified by simple home insurance comparison of popular providers. Geographically, people living in the south-east were most likely to renew their insurance without shopping around via home insurance comparison sites at 27 per cent.
However, Nici Audhlam-Gardiner, head of mortgages at Abbey, said there was plenty that the average homeowners in Britain could do to find the best home insurance policy to suit their circumstances. "There's certainly more that we can all do to improve our financial fitness," she said. "It's all about discipline, in the same way that you can be physically disciplined if you decide to get physically fit," she explained, adding that putting in the hours searching for home insurance comparison would eventually help to reap rewards. The "easiest" option is to keep home insurance cover with an existing provider, however she added that by "looking around and seeing where you can get a better deal, that's something that can make quite a big difference to the amount of money you're paying out each year".
Using a home insurance comparison website is easy, and finding the right policy to suit your needs could help to cover your home, the house contents, loss of use, home liability insurance and often personal possessions. Shopping around is vital to find the best home insurance policy for your needs.
