We are a nation of DIY enthusiasts, and the number of people taking to DIY has increased during the recession - but Saga Insurance is warning peope to check the terms of their home insurance policy before picking up that hammer.
For the amateur home repair-person, DIY could potentially lead to an accident which may not be covered under the terms of their home insurance policy - and they may find themselves shelling out more money, as a result of their bid to save on the cost of hiring a builder or decorater.
Andrew Goodsell, Executive Chairman at Saga Insurance, said:
A poll by Sainsburys earlier this year, revealed an increasing number of UK homeowners are turning to DIY during the recession in a bid to save money during the credit crunch.
