Latest research on the nation's mobile phone habits reveals a growing reliance on our mobile phones and points to the benefits of investing in a mobile phone insurance policy. Some 13 million people admit that they fear being out of mobile phone contact with their friends and family, prompting experts to coin a new term - nomophobia. The findings from Post Office Insurance also show that 55 per cent of people never switch off their mobile phone for fear of being unobtainable by friends and family. Ten per cent claim that they need to be contacted at all times because of their job, while nine per cent said that turning their phone off made them nervous. Such dependence on mobiles demonstrates the importance of mobile phone insurance to cover all eventualities.
Indeed, mobile phone insurance could help to ease the nation's panic when their phone experiences technical problems, is out of range or has been stolen. Nearly five out of ten women and nearly six out of ten men say they feel anxious when they run out of battery or credit, lose their phone or have no network coverage.
"Nomo-phobia is very real for many people in the UK," the Post Office telephony expert, Stewart Fox-Mills, explained. "We're all familiar with the stressful situations of everyday life such as moving house, breakups and organising a family Christmas - but it seems that being out of mobile contact may be the 21st century's contribution to our already manic lives." Equipping oneself with mobile phone insurance, keeping a record of numbers in case handsets are lost or stolen, and keeping your mobile phone in a closed pocket or bag can reduce the risk of theft.
Mobile phone insurance can cover your mobile phone, or PDA against water damage, theft, loss, fraudulent calls and accidental cover both in the UK and abroad.
