Approximately one-third of all beach holidays booked by travellers in the UK are decided upon and booked in a hurry, say AA Travel Insurance. New research from the AA highlighted the fact that men are more likely than woman to go for a last-minute deal - sometimes booking and going on holiday all within a 24-hour period.
Woman are also interested in a late-deal bargain, but are likely to consider their options more carefully. Factors such as the recession and the current spate of low prices on offer from the travel agents in order to entice business through their doors, are all leading to UK holidaymakers becoming less discerning about where they travel, and also what type of holiday they take.
However, UK travellers must still check all details of their trip carefully to ensure it's what they are expecting, and this includes carefully checking the insurance included in the last-minute deal. Christian Young, AA Travel Insurance's Chief Executive, said:
A new report from Which? Holiday magazine this week has highlighted the importance of double checking details, as it revealed many airlines are still automatically adding "opt-out" travel insurance at the point of sale - despite an EU ruling last year banning the practice.
